The tallest mountain in the lower 48.
It’s an amazing mountain with incredible history, and demands a ton of respect.
Whitney Portal, summit, back to Witney Portal in 12.5 hours. Not a trail hike, but a complete back country adventure. Full winter ascent of the famed mountaineer’s route.
6000′ of rock/ice/snow, Team Jordan got it done. Not without plenty of excitment. We bumped into old friends, made new ones….and put another notch on the belt.
We each carried a massive load, and brought enough back up gear for any surprise that could come our way.
Come mid day, the anticipated snow storm came more than a few hours earlier than predicted. Teams were bailing from the top, just short of the summit. Our team assessed it all continually and pushed into some wild conditions and was rewarded with a summit all to ourselves. Conditions warranted plenty of skills and practice situations. It was rock solid adventure all the way around.
