What a day! After a breakfast by the pool we headed to the beach – that’s what’s expected here in Bali! Well first (while Paul was updating the site and finishing his book about our trip) Jordan and I headed to town to find some new swim trunks. Here they have EVERYTHING…every California surf brand you can imagine… and well there are the REAL stores where you can buy a pair of “authentic” swim trunks for the standard $70 US or you can go down the street a little to the real Bali and negotiate for a “fake” brand name pair. We opted for the adventure and headed to the little shops down the street. We were greeted by plenty of locals selling their wares… they all want to know where we are from and then the negotiation starts. Our friend here says to start bargaining at 1/2 of what they offer. It’s fun for a little while and then it’s gets a little annoying. We got a pair of trunks for $10 US and then we were hounded by sales people all the way back to the hotel. Jordan laughed as he remembered the morning and the guy pulling us into his shop. ” For you a special price and he whispers to us, 125,000!” It’s hilarious that’s equivalent to 12.50 US.
After the shopping we head back to pick up Paul. Paul has his mind set on a surf lesson. Jordan and I opt for a little snorkeling. We get a ride to the snorkeling site and a boat to the coral reef. It’s a great time. We spend an hour snorkeling and diving down to the coral to see all the fish. So many bright colors and all varieties… Jordan’s knows the name of each and the types of coral that we’re looking at.
We head back to Kuta, where we are staying and return to the beach where Paul is finishing up his surfing. Jordan heads out into the surf to cheer Paul on. He seems to be getting the hang of it, but he’s b eat from the paddling out and getting up on the board.
Now we are back at the hotel and we’ll head to the airport tonight at 11:30. Then to Hong Kong to meet a friend on the way home…. plenty of adventure to come….

I can’t comment in the right place (website has a problem at least on my PC) so I will write in this spot. I was going crazy trying to find out about the two people with altitude sickness. Since you know I have had acute mountain sickness mixed with my brain problems, I know something about how sick they felt. I was on pins and needles waiting to find out if they were ok. Yes, I know Mountain Sickness is more serious. Glad to hear they received medical treatment in time and the summit climb was a huge, beautiful success.
Love all of you!!! Rest up and come back home.
We miss you!
Love,
Gloria (sis/aunt)
Oops…I meant ALTITUDE SICKNESS is a lot more serious.

WOW !!!!!!!!!
What an adventure for you Jordan. There are ten jillian kids all over America that wish they were with you guys.
Be sure to add these fun times to the book you will be writing. I can just see the title,
“An American Kid has Sat At the Top Of the World Eight Times. From the Sands of Bali to the shores of Tripoli. The story of Jordan Romero, The Mountain Climber Who Set a New Standard ”
Love you guys,
GrandPa Romero
The amazing trip sounds like it is just getting better and better! I need to quiz Jordan about those fish when you all get back
Safe travels!
