White Water paddling OFF the charts

Just rolled in to the relative calm that is Kathmandu.
You see, we just spent a day white water kayaking/rafting. Sweet river, Class 2,3,4’s…nice lunch by the river…
…then the hell began.
After a brief, lovely visit to the home farm of our good pal Ram, seeing his family and amazing simple and gorgeous farm/family/animals…we hopped into a sub compact car for the ride back to Kathmandu. 3 hours in on bus, would be 4-5 hours of nighttime, bone rattling, guard rail less cliffed driving that ranks as one of the dumbest things we’ve ever done. Period. I’m convinced Nepalese, not much different than Chinese and Indians…have little regard for life. Their own, and others. At nighttime it sucks.

We made friends with some girls from Faroe Islands.

Never heard of it? It’s one of the tiniest nations in the world. Situated between Iceland and Norway, are some volcanic and remote islands, of 50,000 persons. These girls are best of friends and spending 3 months touring Asia. Brave souls they are, and had their first day of rafting with us. They loved it.

Super K and the rest of the girls

Super K and the rest of the girls

Paul is totally over this place. I’m missing Big Bear, my surf ski, my bike and Jordan.

Karen, she wants to see temples and walk around this place some more. I’m going to be sipping latte’s and doing work on Open Air and California Multisport stuff.  Stay tuned for more ‘thrilling’ reports (Paul’s view from the hotel garden….) whooo hooo!

    Hey P & K,
Glad to read there is still “flesh on the bones” after your driving extravaganzas. Stay safe on the rest of your travels. It all sounds like an incredible adventure. Hugs, mel and john

Hi there; Ed and I were following you adventure on the mountain. We are both so computer inept, that I hope we managed to get this message through to you guys. Knowing Jordan we are really proud of his effort to date. We know that you guys will see him through this Everest climb. We are sure he will accomplish his goal before the age of 16. From there, be careful he may surpass you guys. Again, we hope you get this one. At the moment, I’m not sure that it will be sent to you or Melissa, ha, ha.
We have left the Baja and unlike the temps you have been facing, the temps down here will reach 100 pluss degrees. We are heading north to Reno for a few weeks and then off to SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE again for another summer. Our music is taking us to another level, figuratively not as in your case. Best of wishes to you guys and Jordan in his quest.
